What Do You Think?

Do you think it's appropriate to discuss the vote to overturn Don't Ask, Don't Tell from the pulpit? I'm just wondering what you all think out there. I got really upset at church today over this very thing. I see Don't Ask, Don't Tell as a civil rights issue. I don't know why it was really brought up at all. I'd say, in general, I can't stand it when politics are brought up in church. It doesn't matter to me which side it is... I just don't think it's the place. Am I out of line? Let's discuss...

  1. I agree - I don't think the Sunday morning church service is the place to debate stuff like that. At my husband's great-aunt's funeral years ago, the pastor took the opportunity to talk about not allowing religion in schools (she'd been a lifelong teacher). Some of the family thought it was fine, but we thought it was completely inappropriate.

  2. Pretty much every week I hear something about gays at church. It gets pretty irritating for me, because I'm tired of all the hate and stuff going on. >.<;
