I have had a summer beyond all summers... memories and fun and travel and love. I have a grandbaby! I was in a killer show! I saw dear relatives! I spent time with best friends!
But today, I can hardly remember the joy. I'm overwhelmed by the world. What is happening? I can barely recognize my country.
Take time to reach out, friends. Stretch your hand past the insulated world you've created by blocking and accepting people on social media. Get to know someone else from across town, across cultures, across religions, across beliefs. You don't have to agree with them. But knowing them will help you see the world from their perspective and will help you show compassion and empathy. Until we're able to do that, we'll never move forward.
We're better than this. Love will prevail. We can do it.
Random thoughts at random times, all set to an original Broadway cast recording in my mind...

Craziness Countdown
History Day was last Friday. Now I'm editing Images of Greatness projects, learning lines, planning field trips, babying my ouchy knee, scheduling summer trips, and not believing that the end of school is actually in sight. This year has flown!

March Madness
I made it through my 19th middle school show... High School Musical, Jr. was a huge success, and the kids really grew through the process. Now, time to focus on History Day and renewing my National Boards. Spring break is at the end of the month, and I'm trying to power through until then. It will be half play and half work and lots of sleeping in!
23 pounds lost since the New Year. Still plugging away at it. Andrew and I both are. He's lost a lot too. It's much easier when we work at it together.
We went to the new Hancher last weekend to see Mamma Mia. The new building is amazing. I didn't realize exactly how much I missed going to Hancher. The space is gorgeous, and it feels more intimate than the Civic Center in Des Moines. I'm so glad it's finally open!

Break
Voluntary Facebook break to focus on positives. That place was making me feel icky inside, and it was sucking too much of my life. Instead, here are some good things to share!
1. I've lost 17 pounds since New Year's.
2. I've decided to try and renew my National Boards.
3. Andrew and I are going to Florida for spring break and to Alaska this summer.
4. July could be the best month of my entire life. More on that later.
5. Assume the best. Always.
